Coaches

Two options, one purpose.

Whether you are a parent volunteer or are seeking a career in soccer coaching, we provide you with the equipment and resources you need. All we ask is that you are respectful, understanding, and demonstrate high-class sportsmanship at all times.

Check out the benefits all coaches receive and learn more about our NYSL Coaching License Scholarship below.

Coach Benefits

Each coach receives the following for their commitment each season:

FREE season registration for their child/ren for each team they coach (one coaching opportunity per division)

Practice equipment such as 3 balls, 2 small goals, 20 cones, 10 scrimmage pinnies, and an equipment bag

Coaches shirt for game days in their team’s brand

Choice of the practice day, time, and location that’s convenient for your schedule

Practice drills and recommendations

PARENT VOLUNTEERS

If you are a parent who is interested in coaching your child’s team, simply indicate so when you register. You will be refunded the registration fee when you are placed with a team. We require that all parent volunteers take a coaches training course online (we will provide the resource), participate in a background check, and maintain a positive team environment that focuses on player development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Professional Coach Training Track

We are here to support coaches as much as our players by providing those who are looking for a career in coaching, but aren’t necessarily a parent of a player, an opportunity to have access to a team as a requirement of the U.S. Soccer D License. In addition, we developed the NYSL Coaching License Scholarship as an added benefit for our coaches to also have their D License fee paid for by NYSL as long as they have met the below requirements:

NYSL Coaching License scholarship requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have coached a minimum of two (2) full seasons with NYSL.
  • Currently coaching a NYSL team.
  • Must have completed the U.S. Soccer Introduction Course & Grassroots Course.
  • Scholarships can be submitted anytime after the completion of the second (2) season.
  • Scholarships will be approved or denied within two weeks of submission.

If approved, the scholarship will be used to refund your already paid-for registration up to $500 for the U.S. Soccer D License. To receive the scholarship funds, proof of paid U.S. Soccer D License registration must be provided. Scholarships will be automatically rejected if the above criteria are not met.
